In short
- The cable car climbs Montjuïc hill in 3 stations: Parc de Montjuïc, Mirador and Castell. The line is 752 metres long and rises about 85 metres, in glass cabins for 8 people.
- It runs every day of the year, and the hours change with the season: 10:00 to 18:00 in winter, 10:00 to 19:00 in April, May and October, and 10:00 to 21:00 from June to September. Last access is 15 minutes before closing.
- The ticket does not include the funicular that takes you to the lower station, nor the entry to the castle. Dogs are not allowed, except assistance dogs, and strollers must be folded.
- Short on time? Take the round trip and ride up and down. Want the castle? Add the castle entry. Want the harbour from the air? Read below about the other cable car in Barcelona.
Three stations on the hill

The lower station is Parc de Montjuïc. On the way up the cabin goes straight to the top, to Castell, the station at the castle. On the way down it stops at Mirador, a terrace with views over the harbour, and ends back at Parc de Montjuïc. With the round-trip ticket you can get on and off at all three stations.
The castle at the top
Montjuïc Castle is a 17th-century fortress, 173 metres above the sea. From its terrace you have a 360-degree view over the port and the Mediterranean. The cable car takes you to the station beside the castle, but the entry to the castle is a separate ticket.
Not the cable car of the harbour
Barcelona has two cable cars, and people often mix them up. The Montjuïc Cable Car climbs the hill and does not go to the port or to Barceloneta. The other one, the Port Cable Car, has crossed the harbour since 1931, from a tower in Barceloneta to Montjuïc. They are separate lines with separate tickets.
